With the ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) coming into force on 8th April 2019 in the Congestion Charge Zone, Hunt’s Transport have been heavily investing in modernising our fleet to the latest emission standard – EURO 6 also know as EURO VI. To learn more about the Ultra Low Emission Zone, please take a look at our ULEZ FAQ below.
As a transport company we are very aware of the environmental impact of our vehicles, that’s why we invest in a modern fleet that meets the latest emission standards set out by the EU, minimising this impact.
If you need a modern vehicle to deliver into the Congestion Charge Zone, then we can help you avoid the £100 surcharge which is applied to older more polluting vehicles.
If you would like to get a quote for a ULEZ compliant vehicle, please contact our office. We have a wide selection of vehicles including HIABs, Moffetts, Flats and curtain siders. See two of our newest 26 tonne HIABs in the picture above.
ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zone) Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ)?
Road transport is one of the biggest sources of emissions in London. In a drive to improve air quality the ULEZ is being introduced to help reduce pollutants.
When does the ULEZ come into effect?
The Ultra Low Emission Zone will replace the T-Charge from the 8th of April 2019.
What area does the ULEZ cover?
The Ultra Low Emission Zone will cover the same area as the current Congestion Charging Zone. You can check which areas fall within the ULEZ charging zone using the postcode checker here. The ULEZ zone and charges will be applied round the clock, 24/7.
From the 26th October 2020 this will be expanded to cover the inner London area bounded by the North and South Circular roads.
How much will it cost to drive into the ULEZ area?
For most vehicles the charge will be £12.50 but for heavier vehicles including lorries over 3.5 tonnes the cost is £100. This is in addition to the weekday Congestion Charge and the Low Emission Zone charge. However, trucks that meet tighter emission standards will be exempt from this charge.
What emission standards do trucks have to meet to be exempt from the ULEZ?
Euro standards are the range of emission controls that set limits for pollutants from vehicles. For lorries/trucks and other specialist heavy vehicles the standard is Euro VI.
